WHAT IT COVERS
VALIDATED BY THE HIGHEST SCIENTIFIC STANDARDS
The Spiritual Transformation Inventory represents a new class of spiritual assessment that combines theoretical depth, scientific rigor, practical utility, and national benchmark norms.
The Spiritual Transformation Inventory (STI) represents the gold standard in spiritual assessment, meeting rigorous scientific criteria for both reliability and validity. All 33 STI scales demonstrate exceptional internal consistency, with Cronbach’s Alpha coefficients ranging from .75 to .94 (mean = .87), well above the scientific threshold of .70 for acceptable reliability. Over two decades of research has established the STI’s strong construct validity through multiple methods: comprehensive factor analysis procedures, convergent and divergent validity correlations with independent measures of spirituality and well-being, and known-groups validity discriminating between spiritual exemplars and non-exemplars. This extensive validation ensures that the STI provides accurate, meaningful insights into spiritual formation that administrators and researchers can trust.

RELIABILITY
All 33 STI scales meet the highest standard of reliability as measured by Cronbach’s Alpha coefficient. STI Alpha coefficients range from .75 to .94, with a mean of .87, indicating a high degree of internal consistency according to scientific standards which set .70 as the minimum coefficient for “acceptable” reliability.

VALIDITY
Over 10 years of research on the STI has demonstrated strong construct validity based on: 1) factor analysis procedures; 2) convergent and divergent validity based on correlations with numerous independent measures of spirituality, psychological well-being, and physical symptom; and 3) known groups validity based on discriminating between nominated spiritual exemplars and non-exemplars.
The SpiritPulse has demonstrated construct validity based on domain total scores predicting outcomes such as spiritual struggles, spiritual well-being and overall well-being.
